YNW Melly arrested for high school shooting
20 October 2015YNW Melly, then 16, is arrested after shooting in a crowd outside Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach, Florida. Nobody gets hit in the shooting. The teenager is slapped on four charges, including three counts of assault with a deadly weapon plus one count for discharging a firearm in public. Still, a minor, Melly ends up spending a year in prison for the crime and gets her GED while behind bars. During the period of isolation, he writes his hit single ‘Murder on My Mind’. Melly comes out in March 2017.

YNW Melly arrested on gun and drug charges
June 30, 2018Melly is arrested in Lee County, Florida. , along with fellow crew member YNW Bortlen. Police accuse rappers of possession of a weapon by a convicted criminal, possession of marijuana not exceeding 20 grams, and possession and/or use of drug paraphernalia. YNW Melly was arrested for the first-degree murder of YNW members
13 February 2019The news says Melly was arrested by police in Miramar, Florida for the double murder of other members of the YNW Juvy (Chris Thomas, 20) and YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams, 21) group. Both men were killed on 21 October 2018 in what was initially believed to be shooting and were even taken to hospital by YNW Bortlen. Police now believe Melly is responsible for the murders and Bortlen helped cover up the crime.
‘Jamell Demons, aka YNW Melly and Corten Henry, have been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder,’ Miramar PD begins a statement. ‘The victims, Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. were killed on 10/26/2018. The investigation, supported by forensic evidence, concluded that Demons shot and killed Williams and Thomas Jr. and that Demons and Henry staged the crime scene to resemble a shooting. ‘
Melly maintains her innocence. On Instagram, he posts a photo of the quartet along with the caption: ‘To all my fans and supporters no, I haven’t been locked up in Washington, but I’m delivering myself today, I want you to know that I love and appreciate every one of you, a couple of months ago I lost my two brothers to violence and now the system wants to find justice, ‘wrote Melly. ‘[Unfortunately] a lot of rumors and lies are being told, but don’t worry, God is with me and my brother @ now. bottle and we want you all to remember that it’s a ynw Family I love you @ ynwsakchaser1 and @ynwjuvy #freeus. ‘
Bortlen is arrested in Houston and extradited to Florida to be charged with murder and an accomplice in murder. Melly has a bail hearing and is ultimately denied bail.

Melly and Bortlen named suspects in the 2017 murder
February 21, 2019Melly and Bortlen are named as possibly being connected to the 2017 death of Deputy Gary Chambliss of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Department in Gifford, Florida.
According to a source, Melly and Bortlen were standing with a group of men who threw a bottle at a passing car on the day of the shooting. An occupant of the vehicle fired a weapon at the group and one of the rappers reportedly returned fire. Chambliss, who was 170 meters away, was hit by a stray bullet and died.
Captain Tony Consalo, head of the criminal investigation division of the sheriff’s office, tells VeroNews After that shooting in Miramar, our investigators will look for possible information about the murder of Garry Chambliss. Perhaps, given their current situation, they might be able to shed some light on the case.

More details emerge in the murder case of Juvy and Sakchaser
February 25, 2019More details emerge about the deaths of YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. According to police documents released to the public, authorities say they have forensic evidence pointing to YNW Melly as the man who triggered the trigger after concluding that they were both shots from inside the vehicle they died in, not from the external, as would have been the case if – for the history, it was to be believed.
Police Chronology of Events claims that Melly shot Juvy and Sakchaser and walked around with their corpses while making up a story to tell the police. Bortlen then took the dead to the hospital and offered the drive-by story. Evidence supporting their claims includes shell casings found inside the vehicle and Snapchat messages in which Melly appears to be dealing with the accident.
